SHAUNA HOLMES

President

Shauna Holmes holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Marketing from Mount Royal University. She is currently the Senior Director of Business Development at WillScot, a leading North American provider of modular office trailers and storage solutions, where she drives growth within the energy and industrial sectors. Shauna places great value on the trust her clients place in her and is dedicated to consistently exceeding their expectations. Prior to her current role, she represented companies specializing in pipeline construction, wireline services, matting, and road and lease construction within the energy sector.

 

 

A strong advocate for empowering women, Shauna has served as President of a dynamic organization for the past two years, leading its expansion to include a chapter in Edmonton while enhancing engagement with students and universities. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys hiking in Kananaskis with her dog, Peach, participating in bootcamp fitness classes with friends, and preparing healthy meals. Shauna is also deeply committed to volunteer work, organizing golf tournaments, conferences, and events to raise funds for local charities.

In addition to her role at WillScot, Shauna has been a key contributor to Canadian Women in Energy for over a decade. She served as Director of Membership for five years and later as Director of Technical Education for four years, where she curated impactful speakers for the organization’s monthly meetings. Canadian Women in Energy, a network focused on the energy sector, facilitates community outreach and fosters professional connections through insightful discussions and networking opportunities.

JANA HACKMAN

Vice President

Jana is a long-standing member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) and is passionate about the work that CWiE strives to deliver with the focus on making a positive impact in both industry and community through charitable work, organic mentorship, and education. She currently serves on the Vice President and previously held the positions of Director of Events, Vice President and Director of Community Engagement.  

​

Jana has over 12 years of experience working with the energy sector, providing best-in-class cloud services which can help take business to the next level. She is currently the Strategic Account Manager with SaskTel National and is known for her ability to provide critical solutions to achieve desired business outcomes while building trusted relationships.

 

In her free time, Jana enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She considers herself to be a foodie and enjoys all the unique social and dining experiences Calgary has to offer.

LESLIE CASSIDY

Director of Technical Education

Leslie has been an active member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) since 2020 and currently serves as the Director of Technical Education. She focuses on expanding the educational learnings for CWiE members through subject matter experts and thought-provoking speakers across the expansive energy industry.

 

Leslie works in Business Development at Vista Projects, an engineering and procurement consulting firm serving the energy industry and specializing in the digital transformation of assets. Her company excels as a system integrator by working within digital twin environments and promoting data-centric project execution, with a focus on enhancing value from initial project conception through to operations and maintenance.

 

Leslie obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Alberta and spent the early years of her career working in the environmental industry in a variety of roles. Her diverse education and professional background contribute to her passion for learning and providing meaningful education on broad topics within the industry. Leslie possesses a keen interest in the collaborative efforts between existing and emerging companies and technologies, and strongly believes that through these means our industry will achieve our future targets for a sustainable and successful energy market in the years and decades to come.

BRITLYNN MRACEK

Co-Director of Membership

Britlynn has a Bachelor of Geology degree from Mount Royal University and has worked in the energy industry for 6+ years. She has moved on from her role as a Geologist and has now been working in Business Development for over four years. Britlynn is currently the Business Development Manager for FLINT. A company that provides Environmental, Fabrication, Construction and Overlay Services throughout Canada.

 

Britlynn has been a member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) since 2020. She began by volunteering as the Sponsorship Lead for the CWiE Charity Golf Tournament and has continued this role for the past three years. In 2022, the opportunity arose to join the board as the Co-Director of Membership. Britlynn looks forward to meeting several like-minded women who are friendly and welcoming. She enjoys the value and opportunities that CWiE has provided her and looks forward to meeting all members and prospective members.

ALANA HOEKSTRA

Co-Director of Membership

Alana has been an active member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) for over 13 years. As the Co-Director of Membership, Alana is among the first points of contact for many of CWiE’s new members. Her love for this position is evident, as she has held this role for two separate terms during her tenure with the organization. Alana joined CWiE with the desire and intent to be a part of an organization that empowered and supported women in the energy sector, providing an environment for growth, education, and community involvement. She found that with CWiE.

​

Alana has been working in the energy industry and specifically within business development for over 17 years. As a genuine people person, she is driven to build strong, lasting working relationships with clients and colleagues. Currently, Alana is Director of Business Development with Equinox Engineering, an EPCM firm which has provided industry-leading engineering services to the energy sector, both domestically and internationally, for over 26 years.

​

Alana loves all the amenities that living in Calgary provides. As one would expect holding a career in business development, she thrives on the social vibe of this city. She loves hockey, football, golfing, skiing, hiking, and exploring the amazing culinary options that are available in this city.

ALENA BLANES

Director of Marketing & Communications

Alena joined Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) in 2023 after making the move from Toronto to Calgary to eagerly start her career in the oil & gas industry. She started as a volunteer on the Marketing Subcommittee and now serves as Director of Marketing & Communications. She is keen to build up the CWiE brand to existing and prospective members and partners.

​

By day, Alena is the Sustainability Analyst at Gibson Energy, a midstream liquids infrastructure company, where she supports their position as a global leader in sustainability. At Gibson, she also co-leads the Student & New Grad Community, an employee resource group that connects and empowers employees who are new to the workforce or completing work terms as students.

 

She holds a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from the University of Toronto, an Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts in Media Studies & Public Relations from the University of Guelph, and a Diploma in Media Communications from Humber College. 

​

Born and raised in Vancouver, Alena is a fresh-air enthusiast who loves hiking, kayaking, gravel biking, and fishing. She is passionate about building community and transition opportunities within the energy industry, especially as we work towards addressing the energy trilemma of affordability, security, and sustainability.

CARMEN LAZZER

Director of Community Involvement

Carmen has been a member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) since 2023, recently joining the board as the Director of Community Involvement. CWiE’s focus on volunteering and community has been what she loves the most about being a member. She finds this to be a great balance to her day-job as a Senior Manager of NGL Finance at Inter Pipeline, where she brings over fourteen years of experience in the oil & gas industry.

​

At Inter Pipeline Carmen also co-founded a women’s network in the NGL business unit, where they strive to inspire, celebrate, and elevate the women in their team. She is also a wife and mom to two young children, and loves being able to show her children the importance of giving back.

SUEANNE FU-JONCIC

Corporate Secretary

SueAnne is a Senior Manager in KPMG’s People and Change Practice in Calgary, with experience across the Advisory, Energy, Technology, Manufacturing and Public sectors.

​

She helps organizations accelerate value capture via their workforce by enabling adoption of digital technology, new ways of working and a growth-oriented culture. She has a passion for People Analytics and is a catalyst for courageous curiosity, supporting clients in finding opportunities to continuously improve across their people, process and technology dimensions. 

​

SueAnne currently serves on the Boards of Canadian Women in Energy, the University of Calgary Haskayne MBA Alumni Alliance and the Women’s Centre of Calgary and is an avid volunteer in the local arts community.

​

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary.

 

In her spare time, she can be seen chasing after her 2 sons ages 6 and 9 and spending family vacations discovering new locales near and far.

RACHEL ONG

Director of Events

Rachel has been a member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) for four years, currently serving as Director of Events.

 

With a Bachelor of Commerce degree, she works at Pipestone Projects, a pipeline estimating & construction management company, as Marketing Manager. With over 20 years of branding and marketing experience, Rachel has collaborated with companies such as Nordstroms, Shoppers Drug Mart, Flare Magazine, Indigo Books, as well as Indigenous mining and Canadian energy firms.

 

She is passionate about giving back, volunteering, and founded a charity run for five years to support TELUS Spark. Her dedication to CWiE's mission underscores her commitment to making positive impacts in the industry and community.

SAMEERA KANJI

Treasurer

Sameera has been a Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) member for two years and sits on the board as Treasurer.

 

She has 22+ years in the oil & gas industry with experience in operations, engineering, procurement and construction. She holds an undergraduate Degree in Applied Chemistry and a Masters in Business Administration.

RAYNA ORYNIAK

Director of Sponsorship

Rayna has been a dedicated member of Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) since 2016. Starting as a newcomer to the oil and gas industry, she initially sought to expand her network, enhance her industry knowledge, and build confidence. As she grew more involved with CWiE, her passion for the organization deepened, leading her to take on several leadership roles. She has served as Co-Director of Membership, President, and Director of Sponsorship, contributing countless hours over the past nine years to support the mission of empowering women in the energy sector.

 

Currently, Rayna serves as the Business Development Manager for Prolium Industries, a leading provider of above-ground storage tank maintenance across Canada.

 

Rayna holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Calgary. She also participated in the Women in Leadership Foundation’s Bridge to Gender Equality Project, a federally funded, 32-month Pan-Canadian initiative, for which she was recognized as a DEI Champion (2022–2023).

 

Outside of her professional commitments, Rayna enjoys spending time in nature, traveling, and reading.
