Dave Hopper, B.Sc. Chem. Eng., P. Eng.
Dave Hopper is a senior Project Director with Equinox Engineering specializing in CO2Recovery. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and has been with Equinox for over twenty-four (24) of his twenty-six (26) years in the oil and gas industry.
Dave has comprehensive knowledge of sour gas processing and liquids recovery and has been involved in the successful execution of over 100 natural gas facility projects including optimization and expansion of gas plants, grass roots processing facility design, amine sweetening, fractionation, compression, dehydration, carbon capture and hydrogen. Dave leads Equinox’s Emerging and Renewable Energy groups for both Canada and the United States.
Equinox Engineering is a local, private company providing complete EPCM services for facilities and pipeline design and installation. They have executed over 7,000 oil and gas facility and pipeline projects globally over their 24 years in business, ranging in value from $5M to $750M TIC. Equinox’s primary focus is the hydrocarbon industry including facility and pipeline projects for natural gas, conventional oil, and heavy oil markets. The in-house EPCM services include Project Management, Feasibility Studies, Conceptual & Basic Engineering, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction Management, Commissioning & Start-up, and Operations & Maintenance. Equinox offers industry leading expertise in natural gas processing, with a specialization in carbon capture.
Equinox is nearing completion of detailed design for one of the largest CCS projects currently underway globally, reflecting some of the lowest lifecycle costs. Equinox successfully executed the pre-FEED, FEED and are currently in Detailed Design for this project, which will permanently store 1.7 million tonnes of CO2 per year. Equinox provided the engineering for the CO2 capture, CO2 compression and dehydration, CO2 pipeline and CO2 sequestration.
